Austin building permit data: weekly list of new permits, contractors and expiring permits
Austin publishes every issued construction permit on its open-data portal. Each week we pull that feed, clean it and add what the raw data lacks: a flag for contractors with no Austin permits in the prior 12 months, a busy-contractor flag, home permits that are expiring or expired, and property facts from county appraisal, Census and FEMA flood-map records.

Questions
Where does Austin building permit data come from?
The City of Austin's official open-data portal (issued construction permits, dataset 3syk-w9eu). Every row in our file links back to the city record.
How do I find new contractors in Austin?
Each weekly file flags contractor businesses that pulled a permit in Austin this week but had none in the prior 12 months. In the week of October 19 to 23, 2026 there were 43.
Can I get a list of expiring Austin permits?
